TURKMENISTAN PRESENTED TO THE WORLD COMMUNITY ITS VOLUNTARY NATIONAL REVIEW ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SDGS

On 18 July 2019, during the High-Level Political Forum held in the United Nations Headquarters, the delegation of Turkmenistan presented to the community of nations its Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This is the first National Review presented by Turkmenistan in New York as the member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.  Presenting at the high-level conference chaired by the President of ECOSOC, the delegation of Turkmenistan acquainted the participants of the Forum with the leading vectors of socio-economic development of the country, achievements in the implementation of main national programmes adapted to realize the SDGs.  The address was accompanied by the presentation of a video that has visually demonstrated to the delegates the main indicators, initiatives and proposals of Turkmenistan attained at the national level and aimed at stable development on the regional and international levels.  In particular, special accent was made on such priority directions of internal and external policy, as transport, energy and ecology.      

Following the main presentation, a speech was given by the SDGs Youth Ambassador.  This representative of the youth of Turkmenistan was elected by the UN to address the High-Level Forum on behalf of the young generation.  The Chairman and participants of the Forum highly appraised in their comments the efforts of Turkmenistan on engaging the youth to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and underlined that the policy of the country in this scope can serve as an example of successful consolidation of all the layers of the society in realizing the SDGs.       

A distinctive characteristic of the National Voluntary Review of Turkmenistan lies in the application of innovative approach reflected in the analysis of interrelation of global tasks and indicators.
